UTAH — We hope all of our Utah Theatre Companies had safe and joyful holidays! It was a jam packed end of year for theatre goers state wide. As we enter a slower month in January, there is a great deal of good theatre on the horizon across the state at venues of all kinds.
Northern Utah
Just two days into the new year, Ogden’s Terrace Plaza opened their production of Titanic: The Musical in concert. Further north, the Utah State University Opera is performing The Rape of Lucretia. Just outside Cache Valley, audiences can catch Lucky Stiff at Heritage Theatre in Perry. At the end of the month Logan’s Music Theatre West is putting on Emma: The Musical and Ogden’s Zigfeld theatre will open The Producers. Utah State will also host the Utah Theatre Association conference this month with theatre students across the state pouring onto the campus.
Salt Lake County
Salt Lake will want to run to their phones to get tickets to Pioneer Theatre Company’s Dial M for Murder opening this weekend. Little Women will play at Hale Centre Theatre in Sandy and the national tour of The Book of Mormon will come to Eccles Theatre as part of Broadway at the Eccles.
Central and Southern Utah
To open their beautiful new venue, The Ruth (formerly Hale Center Theatre Orem) is plunking the keys to Ragtime. Orem’s SCERA Center for the Arts will share a treat for young audiences with The Cat in the Hat. Southern Utah is treated to St. George Musical Theatre’s Anything Goes.
