June was jam packed with incredible theatre and believe it or not we have made it to July! Fortunately we have tons of great entertainment coming to us from local theaters across the state. Ahead is a preview of what Utah Theatre Bloggers Association is preparing to review. For a list of summer festival productions, check out our Summer Festival Preview.

In the world of musicals we have lots to offer. Starting out The Drowsy Chaperone is a Utah favorite at Sugar Factory in Midvale. Tooele Valley Theatre also has Into the Woods. Then a pair of productions of Newsies are opening the same weekend- Syracuse City Arts and up at Sundance. For another Disney adaptation check out The Hunchback of Notre Dame at Murray Arts. Down in Southern Utah, Stage Door has Gypsy and St. George Musical Theater is doing Oklahoma!. Crazy For You is tapping into fun at Scera Shell. Finally, don’t miss Aida at Ogden Musical Theatre.

If you are looking for a straight play there is much to entertain starting with Much Ado About Nothing from Tooele Valley Theater. Then Hart Theatre Company in Salt Lake is putting on The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the Moon Marigolds which is a Pulitzer prize winning play by Paul Zindel. For some thrills Wait Until Dark kicks the scary season off a little early at the Covey Center for the Arts in Provo.

Summer is also a great time for community arts council productions. Many are in full swing, and we’d love to hear about yours! If your company is looking to have a critic come for a review, please follow this link to our submissions form.

Let us know what you are watching in July and break legs to all the cast and crew working so hard to entertain us!
