October is ramping up to be a very exciting and busy month in the Utah Theatre world! Across the state there are going to be a lot of thrilling shows with haunts and chills along with some great classic shows and come fun shows for kids. Great your tickets ready, you could go to a new show almost every day this month!
This weekend is primed to go with nine new shows opening starting with Stupid Ghost at Westminster College followed by Sweeny Todd at Ziegfeld (Ogden), Alice by Heart at Weber State University, Hunchback of Notre Dame at the Valentine Theatre (American Fork), Little Women at Sandy Arts, Clue the Musical at Heritage Theatre (Perry), My Fair Lady at Hale Center Theatre Orem, and Jekyll & Hyde at Hopebox (Kaysville). Also opening this weekend is Tender Hooks at Pygmallion (SLC) written by Utah’s most produced playwright, Julie Jensen.
Next week we are looking forward to Whitelisted at SLAC, Persuasion at Snow College, Jekyll and Hyde at West Valley Arts, Puffs at Lehi Arts Center and the Nation tour of Funny Girl at the Eccles (SLC). The middle of the month brings a break from the spooky shows with two fun shows for kids: Pinkalicious at Hale Center Theatre Orem and James and the Giant Peach Jr at SCERA Center. Also catch Men on Boats at BYU about the masculinity of an 1896 expedition with an unruly crew of explorers yet portrayed with an all-female cast. Then we are back to the Halloween chills with Dracula at Ogden Musical Theatre, Secrets of Sleepy Hollow at the Hive Collaborative (Provo), and Murder on the Orient Express in Vernal.
Towards the end of the month catch Prayer for the French Republic at Pioneer Theatre Company (SLC) and Scarlet Pimpernel at The Grantsville Church Theatre then end in Park City as Ziegfeld brings Sweeny Todd to the Egyptian Theatre on October 30th.
