The Children’s Theatre brings youth and energy to a Utah standard

SALT LAKE CITY — Last night I had the privilege to attend opening night of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” performed by the Youth Stage at The Children’s Theatre. What certainly could have been an amateur and trite evening at the theatre proved to be another reason why The Children’s Theatre is quickly becoming one of my favorite stages in Salt Lake City.

An emailed introduction to the UTBA

I’ve been hard at work this past few days contacting productions across Utah in order to send our reviewers. The response has been overwhelmingly positive and I think that’s because there’s a need in Utah for a resource of consistent theatrical press coverage. Granted, the large companies will get reviewed by the papers. That’s a given. But what about the newest community show that hasn’t yet established their audience?

public urination is funny…but don’t tell FDR (UVU’s Urinetown)

OREM — Ok, So for those of you who know the schtick of Urinetown, bear with those who don’t; Urinetown is about a place where, in the face of a water shortage, the government has turned over to a large corporation the right to regulate water use, ban private bathrooms, and charge people to pee (and poop, which only gets one mention in the show, oddly…hmmm). And it is one of those broadly appealing, honestly funny, don’t-have-to-be-a-musical-lover-to-enjoy type musicals.
